According to the FIlms DIstributers Association Distribution is the highly competitive business of launching and sustaining films in the market place. Distribution is the process of making a product or service available for use of consumption by a consumer or business user.
A film distributer is the company or individual that is solely responsible for marketing of a film. The distributer will set the release date of a film and the method to which the film is exhibited ( Theatrically or for home viewing - video-on-demand, download, television programmes)
These are a few examples of of well known film distributers
The Warner Bros distributer is an American producer of film and entertainment. They are the global leaders in the marketing and distribution of feature films, operating offices in more than 30 countries and releasing films in over 120 international territories
An example of a few of these films include things like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games and TheHangover
Wordle was also used to help me understand Film Distribution and its major features and characteristics
Distributers use digital methods as well to help them engage their targeted audiences. For example they might use digital methods such as aurasma, used by Iphones, to link audiences to their website. On their website they will usually have a trailer which audiences can download and may also have interractive games audiences can engage in. I used aurasma today to connect myself with the new channel 4 TV show, The Fear. I was able to watch their new trailer and read about their programme.
